At Night

At night,
when it’s out of light,
I hold them*, close and tight,
until they finally sleep in my sight.
Despite their fuss and fight,
despite my flaws and fright,
or my lack of might.
My tiredness and overwhelmedness seems alright,
I breathe and fall asleep in delight.

*) My kids, they’re 4 & 6.
