My Mother

When we grew up…

You poured yourself to us,
You gave yourself to us,
until nothing left.

Because of you,
I have the courage to say freely my thought about things that now some may hold at the back still.
I have the courage to expect a better life.
Even though at your time, you could never have them nor have the courage to dream on.
But you had sown the seeds in us to grow.

You walked your talk,
you set an example for us.

You nurtured us,
you nourished us,
we were full of love.

Despite all the imperfections,
that happened to all of us,
you did always do for us,
sincerely, willingly, joyfully and cheerfully…in any seasons.
In good times and in bad times,
in health and in sick.

You’re our anchor, you’re our rock.

Now we’ve grown up, and you’ve grown old gracefully…

Time flies,
things change.
Everything dwindles,
subtly but surely.

You are still smiling joyfully and cheerfully to life.

I hope I can follow your example, Mom.

Dear Lord, please meet my mother’s every need.
/from a sharp tongue & impatience grown up child/

Teeny Note

Despite of the many controversies around The Shack (movie), as a person who very easily weeps when watching movie, one of the sweetest part that touched and moved me is: when Mack, the main character, in relief after the revelations, run and race with Jesus above the water on the lake (and its beautiful nature scenery at surrounding), they both run energetically side by side. This scene would perfectly (for me) describe what I read in my me-time just now, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NLT. I think this is one of the most treasured things above many things else, above all troubles, problems or riches that can come, around and go. I hope I can be like this, always. Have a great day, Friends. Best regards.

Bread For the Brain

After 3 weeks of school holiday in my country, including one and a half week of Idul Fitri holiday where factories and most companies in my country close during the season, I become so glued into the very leisure or slow motion mode. No morning hurry to prepare brunch-box and drive 2 kids to 2 schools of total distance 12 kms before the morning traffic starts. And no need to prepare breakfast for hubby before drive kids to school. No need to make sure kids review what they study at school on weekdays. Yay…

But mid July the school will start again. We need to make sure the young one learns a lot to be able to read, write, count & do simple math before the young one tested for the elementary school eligibility, in the same school as the older one. While the older one should have had the proficiency in math: plus minus up to 100. Why? Because the next level, the older one will start multiplying & dividing.

As a stay at home mom, it seems my brain has not been working during the “real” holiday. But I think I have come to consciousness that I need to activate and feed my brain regularly through learning everyday. I and every human being need to feed their brain on a daily basis, because that’s a human nature. I am struggling to do it everyday, to have time & energy to nurture my brain, even though it’s only a bite of mini-knowledge-cake. I see that some people in my surrounding, specially the stay at home moms (some are at my age or a decade younger, more are the old style traditionalist) that they don’t need to activate their brain, or believe so that women with kids don’t need to study/achive more in knowledge/expertise except if it can help the family income. I think that believe is too bad. So many unused potentials for the betterment of human kind. But I believe that it is every human’s Nature and Right to use the brain we are equipped with for a betterment through learning and studying in real life as well as using books as the tool. And I also do believe in part time job, which everyone could give more their expertise and energy to the economical productivity system for the progress and more development of their own country.

I believe that no single seed, effort nor deed is wasted.

 Dreaded Decluttering

It seemed long time ago since I did the last Decluttering session. And my — our — things unintendedly has become enormous in amount and size, and a bit uncontrollable. The signs have been real, I have experienced again email difficulties in finding good my things when I need them, even though I have minimized — pared & streamlined — many many categories of our belongings.

Kids are growing, finishing one school year, school holiday, traveling, discount & end of season sale everywhere…. Yes, growing kids need new garments, we stock the good material garments for them while discount (the price difference are significant), while the old ones kids still can wear them for another 6 months.

I reviewed my garments and apply new style, more mature style for 40 up (more loose style), since my collection looked more like a college student while my face & body has had collection of wrinkles & fat everywhere. Some of the old garments are still sit around because I still can mix & match them with my new ones.
So basically it’s not one-in one-out.

I need to do big challenge of Streamlining & Decluttering again. Minimize the things I have in each locker, cupboard, cabinet so I & everybody at home would be able to find any single thing in no time.

Recently, for myself I bought 5 outfits that can be mixed & matched and 12 under garments, but I giveaway 2 outfits & 2 under garments still.

So, am I a real minimalist?

Yes, I am a minimalist wannabe. Without minimizing & streamlining, it is difficult to maintain my insanity. Comparing to the extraordinary & inspiring individuals in the blogs I am nothing. However, comparing to my extended family (some of them are already a minimalist, but many are not yet) and my friends, I am.

I would regain my time & space. I would regain my focus & future. I start again my effort toward simplicity & productivity through minimalism. I start to brainstorm, dream again and be active to achieve it.

Finally, I restart small, low fruit…. Yesterday, I sent out 5 outgrown kid garments, and 4 of mine. Today, I giveaway more than 80 CD & DVD collections.

Hopefully, I can plan better each day for the better ends & productivity.

It’s Not My Fight¬†

It’s not my fight… Over there,
My fight is to train my kids of what’s right….Over here,

What’s proper and ethical,
What’s flow from the heart and what’s logical,

to encourage creativity,
to teach them discipline and responsibility,
to interact in integrity,

to let them practicing persistence and endurance,
to help them to be hardworking and competence,

to have love, big heart and kindness,
to diligently bear any consequences.

Ah, certainly not an easy task,
Help me Almighty, I would ask.

Teacher // Educating

Patience and Inspiration go a long way – – a life time.

Today, May 2nd, is The National Education Day in Indonesia. This event makes me remember some of my best teachers and my kids’ teachers. One of them is the teacher in the kindergarten, who taught my kid before, told me something I always remember & give me hopes when I find difficulties in helping my kids learning:

Patience and attention is younger kids’ idols. / Sabar & perhatian itulah idola anak-anak kecil. By Teacher Puji Susanti (Ms.)

What Everyone Wants // Human

How pleased and joyful I am at the moment, my kids (5 & almost 7) are healthy, playing together while chatting each other without quarrelling in a peaceful environment.

I guess this moment is what everyone, every family,  every human wants in life. No matter where you are, who we are. We are the same, human.
